Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has black raspberries, black pepper, slight roasted herbs and spice. Medium bodied. On the palate, black raspberries, char and slight dark chocolate notes. Nice finish. This is drinking well now and should for the next eight to twelve years. Nice on its own, this will work well with Indian dishes, too.
One of the best California Pinot Noir's I have had. Middle of the road in style for Cal Pinot. Deep ruby in color with some purple hues. Mostly clear and bright. The nose has cherries, black cherries, spice, some smoke and slight earthiness. Medium to full bodied. Light tannins. On the palate, lots of delicious cherry and black cherry fruit. Deep and tight layers that unwind in the glass. Great balance. Long finish. This was pop and pour and it kept opening and evolving all night. Drink over the next ten to twenty years. This is made in Solon, Ohio with purchased grapes from California. It is a lighter styled, "Claret" Zinfandel. Ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose has raspberries, cranberries and slight bramble. Medium bodied. On the palate, this is solid. Raspberries and bramble. Good balance. Nice finish. This drinks easy on its own but is probably better with food. It went well with just sitting around having mixed nuts and cheeses. Drink over the next few years.
From Magnum. This is a blend of 65% Mourvedre, 28% Grenache, and 7% Syrah. Basically, this is the top wine offered by Tablas Creek. Especially from Magnum, but even by bottle, this wine is still young. That said, it also drinks well young, so don't be deterred. Purple in color with some ruby hues, opaque and bright. The nose has plums, raspberries, roasted meats and herbs and just a bit of spices. Full bodied. Lush texture. On the palate, plenty of fruit; raspberries, black raspberries, and plums, along with spice and some earthiness. Good acidity. Long finish. This is delicious
From Magnum and consumed over 3 days. It was great on all three but probably at its best on day 2. This is a blend of 68% Syrah and 32% Mourvedre at 15.1% abv. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has black raspberries, slight plums, spice and a hint of old leather. Full bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, black raspberries with a lush texture. Some char and spice. Long finish. Wow. This wine rocks. Maybe the best Chardonnay I have had from this winery and I was already a big fan! Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is great with vanilla, spice and lemon cream. With air, maybe a bit of peach. Full bodied. Good acidity. Almost viscous in texture. On the palate, this is so smooth and seamless. Peaches, lemon cream, vanilla and spice. Delicious. Long finish. Drinking great right now and should continue for another ten to fifteen years. Wonderful on its own, this would work well with a Mushroom pasta in a cream sauce.
This is a blend of 41% Roussanne, 26% Chardonnay, 14% Petit Manseng, 12% Viognier and 7% Muskat (Gelber Muskateller).
Opened this on night one. It was drinking ok, but tight. Recorked, on the counter and reopened the following evening. Much better. This is 97 to 100% Syrah with the balance, Viognier. While perhaps a "weaker" vintage and more accessible than most, this is a killer wine. Inky purple in color, opaque and shimmering bright. The nose has black raspberries, maybe some boysenberries (its a fine line), along with black pepper, black olives and slight floral notes. In the glass, an earthy note comes out. Great texture. Light golden in color with some green hues. The nose is nice with slight tropical fruits, granny smith apples, and hay. Full bodied. On the palate, this has a nice crispness. Lemons, green apples and slight grassy note. Slightly oily texture. Nice finish. Overall, this is a nice California chardonnay that drinks well on its own and would be nice with chicken salad or other lighter meals. Drink over the next five years.
This is a big Pinot for those who love this style. 14.6% abv according to the label. Purple/garnet in color, mostly clear and bright. The nose has black cherries, cherries, slight root beer and spice. Full bodied. Light tannins. On the palate, load of fruit but balanced by juicy acidity. Plenty of depth. Black cherries, cherries and spice. Long finish. Delicious. This drinks great on its own and will work with bolder flavors in foods such as Roasted Fowl. Drink over the next ten to twelve years.
