This is an 80/20 blend of Merlot/Cabernet Franc and very impressive.  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is expressive with black cherries, tobacco, cedar, spice and char.  Full bodied.  Silky texture.  Great balance.  On the palate, this is delicious with depth and some complexity.  Flavors of black cherries, cherries, tobacco and earth.  Long finish.  This is drinking well now but should improve as it cellars.  Drink over the next twenty years.  great on its own, this will work great with traditional matches such as Lamb Stew or Grilled Steak.

Probably my favorite producer of Chablis that I choose to afford.  This is their basic bottling and it is a tremendous value.  Green/gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose is great with green apples, flint, salinity and slight peach.  Crisp acidity.  Medium bodied.  On the palate, green apples with underlying flint/char.  Long finish.  This is refreshing on its own but would be great with many foods.  It worked wonderfully with various vegan dishes.  Drink over the next seven to ten years.

1964 Château Pavie, France, Bordeaux, St. Emilion, Wine Review

Vintage:
1964

From Magnum.  Consumed at a friends 60th birthday party.  While this was fun, sadly it was pretty close to being DOA.  Brown in color.  No real fruit left.  It was not vinegar but offered little other than a way cool factor.  It was a hot (for the times) vintage that offered ripe Merlots and at age 60, this bottle anyway had nothing left.

Of course, this is 100% Chardonnay.  Pale golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose is lovely with apples, slight grapefruit and white flowers.  Medium bodied.  Sinewy texture.  On the palate, this is lean but powerful with apples, grapefruit  and a bit of lemon on the finish.  Nice enough on its own but really needs food to shine.  It worked with vegetarian sushi but for those who eat seafood, regular sushi would be nice.  Drink over the next ten years.

2001 Faiveley Latricières-Chambertin, France, Burgundy, Wine Review

Vintage:

Very nice chowing for this bottle which seems to be at peak.  Ruby in color, mostly clear and bright.  The nose is clean and on the more elegant side.  Cherries, slight leathery notes, and just a hint of warm earth.  Medium bodied.  Just a wisp of tannins.  Nice balance.  On the palate, this has some depth and has a lovely texture.  Flavors of cherries with a bit of old wood notes.  Good finish.  This worked better with food though it was nice on its own.  I had a Japanese vegetable soup that paired well.  Drink over the next fivve to eight years.

This Rosé is a blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah from the Rhone Valley in France.  Light pink in color, clear and bright.  The nose has cherries, strawberries and raspberries.  Light bodied.  Good balance.  On the palate, this is accessible and drinking well.  Flavors of Strawberries and Raspberries with good acidity.  It is nice on its own but better with food.  It worked well with a white pizza with asparagus.  Drink over the next year or two.  Excellent value.

This is 100% Chardonnay from 80% Meursault, 10% Volnay, and 10% Pommard sites.  It was surprising how big and rich this wine is.  Light golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose has grapefruit, lemon creme and some peach notes.  Full bodied.  Light tannins.  Some acidity.  On the palate, lemon cream, vanilla, spice and slight minerality.  Good finish.  It drinks well on its own and would work well with Salmon in a rich cream sauce.  Drink over the next five to eight years.

This is an easy drinking, affordable Bordeaux that is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.  Garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is dusty with black cherries and spice.  medium to full bodied.  Medium tannins.  On the palate, nice black cherry fruit with some spice and char.  Long finish.  This is drinking well now and should go another five to eight years.  A nice wine on its own or a good choice with a burger.
