This is the inaugural offering from Kosta Browne of Chardonnay from the Chablis region of France. True to Chablis, there is a lovely viscosity to this, and a steely maturity that celebrates minerality and structure over flashy fruit. The subdued notes include mild lemon, resin, apricot, muted lime, white peach, and light honeysuckle. But more to the point is the structural integrity of the wine: lean fruit, acidity and minerality, which expresses the Burgundian soil and climate. All stainless steel fermented keeps the balance of elements in check. Not all wines need to be brash and bold, and KB’s offering shows that a true food companion works in concert with food as part of a whole. ORIGIN: Chablis, France. ALCOHOL: 13.5%
