This producer used to be known as Font de Michelle but has re-branded using this name.  It is a very traditional CdP with about 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre according to the back label.  Purple in color.  The nose has black cherry and spice and a bit of a liqueur note.  Very nice chewy mouth feel.  Black cherries, a bit floral and cherries along with some alcohol on the palate.  Long finish.  This should pair well with stews, charcuterie and roasts.  Both 2015 and 2016 are great vintages in CdP.  This one easily has a decade or more left to enjoy.

A really lovely wine for $20.  This is a Cru Beaujolais that is drinking great now and should be good for another 7 to 10 years!  Deep garnet in color.  Clear and bright.  The nose has cherries and slight cherry powdered drink mix.  On the palate, tart bing cherries with slight tannins.  Slightly sour (in a good way) on the finish.  In ten years, this should drink like a Pinot of comparable age.  It is very food friendly with good acidity.  Think anything from Salmon to mushroom dishes to poultry.

This is a relatively new producer of Rhone wines.  The estate began back in the early 90's but Martin took over in 2013 after completing wine school.  Medium gold in color.  The nose is perfumed with floral notes, minerals and wax.  With air, some apricots emerge.  On the palate, this has a slightly oily texture.  Flavors of hay and citrus on the palate.  Light acidity.  This should go well with sea foods and vegetarian dishes.  It went quite well with a Mushroom pasta.  I don't think it will make old bones and would recommend drinking up in the next few years at most.  The freshness and th

2015 was a wionderful vintage in the Rhone.  Also from his Negociant line of wines (although Chave owns the vineyards for these too).  Great showing for this wine, it will undoubtedly open and close often over the next twenty or so years, but beautiful at the moment.  Light golden in color.  The nose shows vanilla, slight peach and white floral notes.  This is a big full bodied wine.  On the palate showing slightly bitter (in a good way) earthiness, apricots, slight lemons and white pepper.  Nice acidity (for Marsanne).  Long finish.  This wine is mostly Marsanne.  This wine has a nice dept

This is the "Negociant" line of wines although the vineyards are in fact, owned by Chave.  It is what used to be labelled as Celeste.  There are two big differences between this and the Hermitage.  First, this is 100% Roussanne while those are all or mostly Marsanne.  Second, this is grown on granite soils as opposed to limestone and schist giving this wine more minerality.  Yellow gold in color.  The nose is very nice.  Minerals for sure but also a bit of was and vanilla with an earthiness that is intriguing.  On the palate, this has a lovely creamy texture.  Slightly lemon with vanilla an

This is drinking quite well.  At a time when Burgundy prices are soaring and the "best" producers are unaffordable, Chablis still offers the ability to get a great wine.  The question is how long will this continue.  Light green/silver with a slight gold in color.  The nose is pretty classic with crushed shells, chalk and green apples.  On the palate, this has a much creamier texture and more rounded than expected.  Presumably that is due to barrel fermentation and a bit higher alcohol levels.  No matter, it still has a nice green apple and mineral flavor set with is quite refreshing and de

This is the second wine of Gracia and is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.  This sample was drinking very well right now.  Purple in color.  The nose has black cherries, dark chocolate dust and slight coffee.  Certainly no issues with getting ripe.  The palate has light tannins.  Some depth.  Black cherry fruit over a dry earthiness.  Good finish.  This was not cheap; retailing at $85 compared to the First wines at around $135.  But it is a very good wine.  Should drink well for a decade as it matures.  Probably won't get better.

This is a very interesting white wine made from the Altesse grape in Savoie (in the French Alps).  It is somewhat like a Chardonnay and somewhat like a Pinot Grigio (think Alto Adige).  It is very good.  The nose has a nice minerality with strong pears and lesser floral notes.  On the palate, there are nice minerals with some green apples but also some hints of honey.  It does seem to have a touch of residual sugar but the acidity and minerality balance it well.  This is heavier in weight for a weight and will go with a wide variety of foods.  consumed over two days, it was better on Day 2,

This is a higher end Rose that is a blend of Grenache and Tibouren grapes.   It is a very bright but light salmon pink color.  Quite an expressive nose of watermelon, strawberries along with slight grapefruit and just a touch of wintergreen.  On the palate, this is clean and steely.  Strawberries and peaches with slight tannins (unusual for a Rose).  Long finish.  This drinks well on its own but to really show its class, it needed some food.  It went amazingly well with a Watermelon, Feta and Mint salad.  While this probably will last a few years, the sooner you get to it, the more freshnes

Consumed after a tasting of First Growths from 2008, this more than held its own.  It is 51% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot.  The definition of a sexy wine.  Purple/ruby in color.  The nose has cassis, floral notes and slight plums.  On the palate, this has a wonderful texture.  Juicy yet velvety.  Lots of cassis and some raspberries over a slight spice/earth.  Long finish.  There are medium to firm tannins but they are more silky in style.  A delicious wine right now, it should improve for a decade and last another couple (at least) after that.
