Very nice showing for this wine.  Golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose has limes, smoke/sulfur and slight white pepper.  Medium bodied.  Moderate acidity.  On the palate, lime with some hay notes.  Really pleasant, long finish.  The acidity here helps this become more food friendly although it still drinks well on its own.  It will work well with fried chicken and other fried foods.  Drink over the next five to seven years.

Yellow/gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose shows smoke/sulfur which partially blows off.  Limes and slight white pepper come out.  Medium bodied.  Velvety texture.  Low acidity.  On the palate, minerals with slight limes and a hint of herbs.  This drinks easily on its own.  Drink over the next few years.

Yellow/green in color, clear and bright.  The nose has limes, herbs, and white pepper.  Medium bodied.  Good acidity.  On the palate, this seems to have slight residual sugar.  Lime with fresh herbs.  This is refreshing and quite tasty.  Nice finish.  This drinks well on its own and would work well with foods that have a slight amount of spice/heat such as Szechwan.  Drink over the next five to seven years.

Green/gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose is nice with limes and a fresh herbal notes.  Lovely texture.  Light tannins.  Good acidity.  Notes of limes with a slight underlying minerality.  Long finish.  This drinks well on its own and would be excellent with a wide variety of foods.  Thai foods would go well if not too spicy.  Drink over the next five to seven years.

This is a 50/50 blend of Zweigelt and Pinot Noir.  Pale, silvery/salmon pink in color, clear and bright.  The nose is tight with some watermelons.  Moderate acidity. On the palate, watermelon and slight strawberry notes.  Clean.  Some heat on the finish.  A fine wine to sip with lunch or on the deck.  It will work well with  lighter foods.  Chicken salad would work well.

Tasted at their Tasting Room in Durnstein (while waiting for my wife to shop).  Glad I stopped.  This is an enjoyable Riesling.  Silvery/green in color, clear and bright.  The nose show yellow grapefruit and some minerality.  Light bodied.  On the palate, nice tart acidity.  Dry.  Grapefruit with underlying minerality.  Long finish.  This drinks easy but has some depth too.  It should drink well for the next ten to twelve years.  On its own or with food, this is a great value.  This would be great with fried appetizers or even popcorn.

OMG, this is amazing.  Truly outstanding.  Light golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose is all about minerality.  "Wet stones", minerals with some spice and slight apricots make a complex nose that is both elegant and powerful.  Medium to full bodied.  A creamy yet energetic texture.  Well balanced but not shy on acidity.  On the palate, this is concentrated.  Loads of minerality with slight apricot notes and a hint of spice.  Long finish.  This is still youthful but drinking well now.  Drink over the next twenty to twenty five years.  Fantastic on its own, this will work with most fo

Vom Stein is a sub-site of the Silberbichel vineyard and is a slight incline, sloping east.  Nikolaihof makes beautiful wines from this vineyard.  Smaragd is the highest level of quality in Austrian wines.  Light golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose is nice with minerals, flint, lemon, slight peach and spice.  Full bodied.  On the palate, a nice whiff of grapefruits and lemon with underlying minerality.  Wispy tannins.  Lots of depth and complexity.  Good acidity.  Long finish.  This is close to mature but will still develop for another three to five years and drink well for another

From one of the oldest wineries in Europe and one of the oldest vineyards (first mentioned in print in 511AD), this is a beautiful Gruner.  Green/gold/silver in color, clear and bright.  The nose is pretty with slight floral notes, asparagus, apples and spice.  Full bodied.  Crisp acidity.  On the palate, this has limes, and slight lemons with underlying acidity.  Long finish.  This is a delicious wine that is showing plenty of depth and complexity.  Drink over the next ten to twelve years.  It is excellent on its own and will work well with a wide variety of foods.  A nice match would be s

This is a late release served at the winery.  It spent an extra six years in large barrels.  Silvery gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose is clean with lemons, minerality and slight apricot notes.  Creamy texture but also crisp acidity.  On the palate, the lemons and slight apricot come thru with underlying minerality.  Long finish.  This wine shows a lot of complexity but undoubtedly will continue to mature for a few more years.  Drink over the next twenty years.  This is great on its own and will be even better with almost any food.  It would be great with Szechuan food.
