From a 375ml bottle/  Brown in color.  The nose is interesting with green tea, chalk and wet rocks.  On the palate, this has tart green grapes along with underlying chalk and some rocks.  It is slightly viscous.  Slightly sweet but not as much as expected.  It has an interesting complexity.  It works well on its own or with cheese.  This seems to be showing some age, but should have a long life ahead.

This was a bit shut down on night one, but really opened beautifully on night 2.  Light to medium golden in color.  The nose has nice minerality along with a bit of pineapple and an interesting slight mint note.  On the palate, this is slightly viscous.  There is just a hint of sweetness.  Good acidity.  The pineapple and minerals carry thru along with a touch of Granny Smith apples.  Moderate finish.  Its probably best at this point to give it a bit of air or just wait a few years on it.  It will work great with Thai or Chinese foods.  It should last another ten years at least if well stor

Deep golden in color, clear and bright.  Gorgeous nose of minerals, wet rocks and pineapple.  On the palate, this is sweet but no where near cloying.  Viscous.  Great acidity balances it well.  The palate has slight pineapple with minerals and plenty of depth.  This is mature but will continue to evolve.  No signs of diesel at this point.  Easily another couple of decades left.  It was a great match with a beet and goat cheese dish.

Gruner Veltliner may be the "national" grape of Austria, and there are many great ones, but they also do a fantastic job with Riesling.  Golden in color.  The nose has nice minerals, a slight peach and a slighter diesel quality.  On the palate, this is dry.  Excellent acidity.  The wine is full bodied.  Depth and complexity.  Long finish.  This should go with just about any food.  Just starting to show some maturity, it will last a couple more decades if that's how you like your Riesling.

From a 375 ML bottle bought on release.  Pop and pour.  Of course, 2001 was such a great vintage (one of the all time greats).  This one is doing fine.  Starting to show a bit of maturity but that's fine.  Medium golden in color.  The nose has slight diesel with wet rocks, lemon peel and slight simple syrup.  On the palate, there is some diesel.  A bit of sweetness but not a lot for an Auslese.  Great acidity.  Nice minerality.  Long finish.  This easily should last a couple more decades.  It would be great with Thai food.

Mike Officer makes some really nice wines at fair prices.  His whites might even be better values than his reds.  This is a field blend of Gewürztraminer, Trousseau Gris, Riesling and other white grapes.  Pale silvery gold in color.  The nose is great with lychees, peaches and floral tones.  On the palate, this is slightly viscous.  Dry and refreshing.  Peaches and slight pears with good minerality.  Nice finish.  This is drinking quite well now and it probably should be consumed over the next couple of years.  It will go well with salads, sushi or even Thai food.

Beautiful showing for this bottle.  Gorgeous color if a bit worrisome.  A deep burnt orange color.  The nose is very nice with a slight petrol quality along with apricots and slight honey.  On the palate, this is slightly viscous.  Not as sweet as it was in it's youth though still some sweetness.  Peaches, slight honey, slight almond note on the finish.  Complex and deep.  It is evolving nicely and well stored bottles should continue to be a treat for a while.  This went well with a salad and will probably have more synergy with lighter foods at this point in its life.

Nice to check in on this wine after a few years.  It is open and drinking beautifully.  Richters wines are always good to great, but they are always some of the best values in Germany.  This one is no exception.  Light golden in color.  The nose has slight peach with lots of minerals/wet rocks.  With air a bit of floral not comes out.  On the palate, this is sweet but not overtly.  A reasonable amount for Spatlese.  It is crisp with nice peaches and wet rocks.  Long finish.  This will go with almost any food but will excel with spicy Thai or Indian.  It is still young but drinking great and

This is join venture made in Washington state.  Back in the day, this was a bit pricey vis a vis the other options but the price has remained stable and now full retail is about $25.  A nice wine for that price.  Light golden in color.  The nose has peaches, minerals and slight char.  With air a slight lychee note emerges.  On the palate, this is just slightly sweet.  Peaches with nice minerality.  A softer texture.  Nice finish.  This is drinking well now and should for the next five to ten at least.  It will work with almost any food.  Spicy foods would be great!

2015 was a hugely successful year for Richter.  They are tight but never really shut down all the way.  A bit of air or a decant is a nice idea at this time.  Light golden in color.  The nose is very pretty with pears, minerals and slight green apple.  On the palate, this is sweet with a slightly viscous texture.  Good acidity that balances the sweetness quite well.  There is depth here with layers of minerals and pears.  Long finish.  This will go well with a wide variety of foods.  From salads to spicy Thai, it should be easy to match.  And delicious on its own.  Yes, some people insist t
