This is one of the best Sauvignon Blancs made in Napa.  Luckily, the grapes for this were made before the smoke from the fires tainted the grapes.  In fact, this may be the best Soliloquy yet!  It is a blend based on their proprietary clone of Sauvignon Blanc with some Chardonnay and Malvasia.  Silvery green-gold in color, clear and bright.  A very expressive nose.  Slightly grassy with spice and a ton of tropical fruits (papaya, guava, some pineapple), and some orange zest.  Light to medium bodied.  Smooth and silky texture.  Good acidity.  On the palate, plenty of grapefruit, a slight cha

Golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose is nice with honey, apricots and simple syrup.  Medium bodied.  On the palate, oranges and slight alcohol note.  Good acidity.  Still showing very fresh but mature, too.  This is at peak or maybe slightly past but should drink well for another decade.  Great on its own, this will work with a savory dessert such as a polenta cake.

This is a blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc, 19% Chardonnay and 1% Marsanne from Washington state.  Yellow gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose is smoky with some peach offerings.  Medium bodied.  Slight tannins.  Low acidity.  Very round and easy to drink texture.  On the palate, some peach and some apple.  A bit of bitter almond on the finish.  Overall, an easy drinking wine that provides nice value.  It drinks very well on its own and will work with lighter foods.  Drink over the next year.

What a treat to taste this wine that was opened by a friend for his 60th birthday.  While perhaps not the best vintage for sauternes (great red vintages seldom are), this was still outstanding.  The color of iced tea (sort of red/brown/orange) clear and bright.  The nose is nice with apricots, honey and cashews.  Viscous.  Very slightly sweet.  Medium bodied.  Moderate acidity.  On the palate, orange peel with some honey.  Long finish.  This should continue to drink well for the  next fifteen to twenty years.  It probably deserves to be consumed on its own or better yet, with birthday cake

From a 375ml bottle.  Amber/gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose is great.  Pineapples, honey and an herbal note.  Slightly sweet (but less than expected).  Good acidity.  Viscous.  On the palate, oranges and honey.  Long finish.  Very tasty.  This went well at the end of the evening all on its own but will work well with citrus or less sweet baked desserts.  Drinking great now, this will drink well over the  next twenty years.

This is apparently available in the market and I would love to know the back story.  The 1973 has been reviewed a couple time here recently as well.  It has a Rose/pink/orange color to it, clear and bright.  The nose has apricots, butterscotch and caramel.  Viscous.  On the palate the apricots and butterscotch come thru.  Solid acidity.  Nice finish.  This is very nice and drinking well at age 49.  This would be a great birth year wine for anyone born in 1972.  It would work well with blue cheese or just in a glass by itself.

This is an inexpensive Sauvignon Blanc from France.  Pale golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose is a bit grassy with oranges.  Light to medium bodied with a slightly oily texture.  On the palate, minerals and slight orange as well.  A bit of menthol on the finish.  Moderate acidity.  This is a bit of a different showing for a Sauvignon Blanc but very enjoyable.  It drinks well on its own and would work nicely with lighter foods.  A citrus salad would be nice.  Drink over the next year.

This is 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Semillon.  Pale silvery/gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose is interesting with pine, pears and apples and a bit of minerality.  On the palate, pears, slight candied lemon and a bit of menthol on the finish.  This has a lovely full bodied texture without giving up its acidity or cut.  Solid finish.  Drink this over the next five to eight years.  It will work well with lighter and medium bodied foods.  It will work well with a Goat cheese and Beet salad.

This is an interesting take on Sauvignon Blanc.  Made in Paso Robles but carrying a California AVA.  Light gold in color with a touch of green.  On the nose grapefruit and lemon/lime with slight minerality.  Light bodied.  On the palate, the lemon/lime come thru with a touch of ginger.  Slight bitterness on the finish.  This is drinking well now and should for another five to eight years.  Probably not the type of Sauvignon Blanc to serve at a party to those looking for big fruit, it will work better with lunch or a light dinner.  A sea food salad would work well.

Always a privilege to be able to drink Yquem.  Light golden in color, clear and bright.  Great nose with honey, slight caramel, apricots, slight pineapple and slight ginger.  Full bodied.  Viscous.  Sweet not cloying with good acidity.  On the palate, honey, slight mandarin orange, apricots and a bit of burnt sugar.  Long, long, finish.  Stunning if young.  Drink this over the next fifty years.  This will work with some desserts but really deserves to be served on its own.  It will improve a bit as it matures.
