Purple in color. Clear and bright. The nose is nice with black cherries and black olives. With air, some tart cranberries on the nose. Medium tannins. Good black cherry fruit on the palate. A bit clipped on the finish. Overall, this is in a good place and drinking nicely but with some maturity. Impressive at age 14. Easily seems like it has a decade left.
Purple in color, with ruby swirls. The nose has some volatile acidity but just a bit which serves to raise the aromatics in a good way. Cherries and dust. On the palate, this is less ripe than the other vintages in a comprehensive vertical. That is not a bad thing. There is still plenty of black cherry fruit with good acidity. This may be one of the longer lasting wines. Good finish. It is also quite food friendly at this point. Easily has a decade of good drinking left.

I first tried this wine a few years ago and was impressed by how well it had help. It has aged a bit since then but still is remarkably fresh. This was bolder in style than the Fiddletown. Purple in color. The nose has black cherries and bramble. Juicy acidity on the palate. More plum fruit as well. Overall a very nice and delicious Zin Food friendly and seemingly with another decade left.
Part of a tasting of Zinfandel wines. I believe this was a late release from the winery. For a 17 year old Zinfandel, this was drinking quite well. Purple in color, ruby swirls. The nose has black cherries and spice. On the palate, it is more about plums. Not a big or fruity wine at this stage, but plenty of energy and drinking well. More of a claret styled Zin with a nice complexity. Very food friendly.
This has 80% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Sirah, and 4% Carignane. It is drinking just wonderfully right now. Purple in color. The nose has black raspberries, dust, leather, slight earthiness and cherries. On the palate, this is fresh with vibrant fruit and light tannins. Black raspberries, slight peppery notes and a nice warm earthiness to it. Good balance. Nice finish. Just a lovely wine. It won't get better but should continue to mature and evolve over the next decade. Will work with almost any food at this point.
Looking for a good, not too expensive Zinfandel for parties, pizza night and just good sipping? Here ya go! This one retails for $20 and fits the bill. Ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose has cherries, sour cherries, a bit of sticks and stones and slight dust. On the palate, this is easy to drink. It is ripe but not over the top. Nice texture presumably from the high alcohol (15%). Good finish. This makes a nice cocktail wine but will go with big casual food. Sure to be a crowd pleaser.
I try to buy a case of this every year. You know how when you go to the wine cellar and you want something good but not too expensive. Maybe you already had a glass or two and can't quite remember the pricing on every one of your bottles? This is perfect. Always good. Always fairly priced. I know it lasts a couple of years, and probably more, but mine never do. I drink them too easily. Readily available for around $25. Bright purple in color. Normally, its better to let Saxum's wait ten years from vintage to really get the best but the Paderewski is a different animal. It is 34% Mourvedre, 33% Zinfandel, 13% Petite Sirah, 12% Syrah and 8% Tempranillo. Because of that it changes as it ages with the Zin showing more in its youth and fading a bit back with time. This bottle was beautiful. Purple in color. The nose is deep and intoxicating with black cherries, roasted meats, leather, black raspberries, black pepper and cherries. This is in a great spot right now. It is still youthful and rambunctious but has calmed a bit since release. Purple in color, ruby at the rim. The nose has raspberries, slight strawberries with underlying coffee grounds. On the palate, this is juicy with a great texture. Delicious. Raspberries with underlying char. Clean. Will work with spicy or heavier foods. This should evolve over the next decade, but this style will fade in a year or so to be a kinder gentler wine. Its good right now.
