NV Familia Zuccardi Malbec Malamado, Argentina, Mendoza, Wine Review

Score:
92
Grade:
A-
Current Price:
$18.00USD

This is a "Port Style" wine made from Malbec grapes in Argentina.  Even the bottle is a "Port" type bottle.  Purple/blue in color, opaque and shimmering bright.  The nose has aromas of chocolate covered raisins.  Very nice.  Full bodied.  Great texture.  On the palate, black cherries, dark chocolate and slight prunes.  Long finish.  This is delicious on its own and would work nicely with a (dark) chocolate dessert.  18% abv.

This is a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Carmenère, 2% Syrah, and 2% Petit Verdot.  Purple in color, ruby at the rim, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is concentrated with black cherries, cranberries and slight sage.  Medium bodied.  Medium tannins.  On the palate, tart cherries with some cranberries.  Good finish.  This is drinking well now and should continue for another five to eight years. it will go well with many foods especially roasted chicken or duck.

Vintage:

Score:
90
Grade:
A-
Current Price:
$17.00USD

This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Petite Verdot and Cabernet Franc from Chile.  Ruby in color with a purple core, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is dusty with black cherries and the slightest green tobacco.  Juicy, jellied texture.  Medium tannins.  On the palate, tart cherries which give way to black cherry fruit.  Moderate finish.  This took about 30 minutes to open.  it drinks nicely on its own and will work with many foods.  A nice choice for Burgers or Pizza.  Drink over the next five years.
