While in Italy last month, we made a stop at long time favorite, Foradori, in Trentino in northwest Italy. It is a beautiful winery surrounded by the Dolomites just north of the city of Trento. Foradori is certified bot as Biodynamic and Organic. They utilize grapes native to the area and some international varieties and seem to be always trying out new (or ancient) methods. While many wineries in Italy seem to be experimenting with Amphorae, they are using them and committed. Foradori does do some experimenting and visiting , we had the opportunity to buy some of those wines. I look forward to trying them and posting my notes here.
Our wonderful host Sonia toured us thru the vineyards and the cellars before leading us thru a tasting. You can read the tasting notes here: https://www.intowine.com/reviews?region=&varietal=&uid=Loren+Sonkin&score=&grade=All&vintage%5Bvalue%5D%5Byear%5D=&search=foradori&before=2025-06-04&after=2025-05-22&sort_by=created&sort_order=ASC
A trip to this part of Italy may be a bit out of the way from typical itineraries, but it is highly recommended. The area is beautiful and unique and the wines are fantastic and reasonably priced.
