One of the masters of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.  This wine was singing.  Purple in color with ruby swirls, opaque and bright.  The nose is earthy with black cherries, boysenberries, char, gravel, slight stewed meats and slight spice.  On the savory side.  Full bodied.  Medium to firm tannins.  Great balance.  On the palate, this is in a great place.  Just a bit before peak but staarting to  show some development.  Layers of black cherries, plums and boysenberries with black pepper, gravel and char.  Long finish.  Complex and deep.  This is contemplative on its own but would work nicely with hearty, savory meals.  It went very well with a vegetarian bean chili.  Drink over the next eight to fifteen years.
