2019 Domaine Guillemot-Michel "Une Bulle" Methode Ancestrale, France, Burgundy, Wine Review

This is a 100% Chardonnay, sparkling wine from Burgundy. Light golden in color, clear and bright. A bit of a mousse with small-ish bubbles. The nose is nice with almonds, red apples and a slight yeasty/bread note. Medium bodied. Good acidity. On the palate, this has nice apples with almonds on the persistent finish. This is a nice moderately priced sparkling wine that is very food friendly. This would go nicely with a bowl of French Onion Soup with melted Gruyere Cheese.

This is quite good if still young. A more feminine side of Chablis. Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose has apples, slight anise and gun powder (reduction?). Medium bodied. Good balance. On the palate, this drinks very smooth. Lemon cream notes. Quite refreshing. Deep, it does open up in the glass but could really benefit from more cellar time. Nice finish. This drinks well on its own but with some oysters or other sea food, it would be even better. Cellar for another few years and drink for ten to fifteen after that.

This is 100% chardonnay although it is not labelled as Blanc de blanc. Disgorged May 2023. Golden in color, clear and bright with a nice mousse of tiny bubbles. The nose has baked bread, red apples and slight ginger. Medium to full bodied. Good acidity. nice mouthfeel. On the palate, this has some depth and complexity. Flavors of apples with some minerality and slight gingersnap on the finish. This is lovely on its own and better with food. It will work with most foods but would be nice with melted brie on toast. Drink over the next ten years.

This is a nice easy going French Chardonnay (listed on the label). Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose has pears and apples with a slight note of almonds. Light bodied. Crisp and clean. On the palate, green apples with a slight minerality. Nice balance. Good finish. This is refreshing and should be popular among fans of all styles of Chardonnay. This should be consumed over the next couple of years. It drinks well on its own and will work well with salads and seafoods.
