This is a delightful blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco from Tuscany.  Light golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose has apples, floral notes and wild thyme.  Medium bodied.  Slightly oily texture.  Crisp acidity.  On the palate, this drinks easily.  Crisp apple flavors with slight citrus and minerality.  Good finish.  This is lovely on its own and will work with lighter foods.  A nice choice to go with pasta in a butter sauce.  Drink over the next couple of years.  Nice value.

2011 Rhys Chardonnay Horseshoe Vineyard, USA, California, Santa Cruz, Wine Review

Great showing for this wine at age 14 (and not the best vintage).  Deeper golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose shows slight oxidation along with lemon creme, slight vanilla and minerality.  Full bodied.  Nicely balanced.  On the palate, this is layered and complex.  Still plenty of fruit but also some tertiary notes of dried fruits, earthiness and nuts.  Long finish.  This is mature and seemingly at peak or slightly past.  It begs for food and would go nicely with Fruit Salad but also scallops.  Drink up.

2022 Kutch Chardonnay Bohan Salt Point Block Sonoma Coast, USA, California, Wine Review

Another great Kutch wine. His Chardonnays (and Pinots) are really top notch. Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is great with red apples, slight vanilla and spice. Medium to full bodied. Crisp acidity. On the palate, this is concentrated but unwinds nicely in the glass. Great texture. Flavors of apples and maybe some pears. Long finish. This is delicious and drinks very easily. Great on its own but better with food. A nice choice for rich seafood as the crispness will lend a nice foil. Drink over the next ten years.

This is 100% Pinot Grigio from northern Italy.  Light golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose is mineral driven but also some lemon and slight green tart apple.  Light to medium bodied.  Slightly "oily" texture.  Good energy.  On the palate, flavors of crisp green apples with underlying minerality.  Long finish.  This drinks easily on its own but works even  better with food.  This would go well with a full charcuterie board including soft cheeses and prosciutto.  Drink over the next few years.

Consistently, one of the best Arneis and a great value.  Light to medium gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose is vibrant with green apples, almonds, and a touch of lemon peel.  Some minerality, too.  Medium bodied.  Good acidity.  On the palate, this is tasty.  Not as crisp as the 2022 but more rounder edges.  Flavors of apples with some lemon and minerality.  Good finish.  This drinks easily on its own but will work nice with many foods.  It would work well with a Chestnut Agnolotti pasta dish.  Drink over the next few years.

Inky purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is great with cassis, blueberries, cedar, slight graphite and spice.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  On the palate, this is delicious if still youthful.  Flavors of cassis, blueberries, graphite and spice.  Complex but tight, it unwinds in the glass.  Long finish.  This drinks great on its own and would be nice with roasted meats, fowl or squash.  Drink over the next twenty years.

What a way to end an evening!  Bright amber/ruby in color, clear and bright.  The nose has a lot of alcohol, some wood, but also Crem Brulé , slight cinnamon, and a bit of butterscotch.  Full bodied and viscous.  On the palate, the Crem Brule is there and some butterscotch.  Also the alcohol and warmth.  Long finish.  I don't drink much Cognac or Armagnac but this would be nice to sip slowly after a great meal.
