Another winner from Clos des Papes.  This is 50% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah.  Deep ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose  is tight at first but opens to show black cherries, black raspberries, plums, lavender, spice (garrigue) and char.  Full bodied.  Medium tannins.  Great balance.  On the palate, this is young and in need of time or air.  Flavors of black cherries, plums, black raspberries with underlying char and slight earthiness.  Long finish.  This is drinkable now with plenty of air, but better to wait five years.  Drink over the next ten to fifteen years.  Great on its own, it will be better with heavy/earthy foods.  Stews would be a great idea with some hearty bread.
