2023 Domaine Fabrice Gasnier Chinon Les Graves, France, Loire, Wine Review

Beautiful wine.  This is not "rustic" or "old world" in style but it still speaks of Chinon and the Loire Valley.  It is 100% Cabernet Franc from a single vineyard.  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is deep with black cherries, leather, some black raspberries, slight floral notes and slight chalk.  Full bodied.  Medium tannins.  Nice acidity.  On the palate, this is deep.  Plenty of fruit but not overblown in any way.  Flavors of black cherries with slight bell pepper and leather.  Long finish.  This is young and needs air/time.  That said it should drink well for another eight to twelve years.  Nice on its own but better with food.  Spaghetti Squash with a hearty Mushroom Sauce would be nice.  Tremendous value.
