For many decades Cuvaison has chosen the relatively cool Los Carneros area to make many of their wines. Historically, this site succeeds. The proof is not only in this 2022 Chardonnay, but also that the vast majority of their wines I have tasted over a number of years stylistically and fundamentally outshines other wine. This Chardonnay does an excellent job of using quality fruit married with a talented winemaking team to deliver a wine that anyone can love. This offers bright citrus fruit, lemon pie crust, guava, lime kefir, honeydew melon, apricot, light toasted croissant notes and white peach, which all conspire to treat the senses. After fermentation the wine was aged a scant 11 months in small French oak barrels, of which just 25% of those barrels were new, therefore the oak supports the wine and doesn’t dominate it. The acidity comes through also supporting the wine throughout the palate, which allows for a broad selection of food pairings. ORIGIN: Napa Valley, Los Carneros. ALCOHOL: 14.2%
