The Maresh vineyard was plated back in the 1970's by the  current owners father (who sadly passed away too young).  Deep ruby in color, partially opaque and bright.  The nose is big and slightly ripe for Oregon with black cherries, anise, cherries, fig and slight spice.  Medium  to full bodied.  Light tannins.  Great texture.  On the palate, this has a lot of depth and energy.  Flavors of black cherries with some cherries and a hint of anise and spice.  Balanced.  Long finish.  This is pretty much at peak and stakes out the middle Pinot ground between Sonoma and Burgundy.  It is grreat on its own but will work with most foods.  It worked well with a vegetarian sausage Lasagna.  Drink over the next ten years.
