2022 Realm Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Fidelio, USA, California, Napa, Wine Review
Named after the only Opera that Beethoven wrote, the fruit for this comes from the Farella Vineyard in Coombsville. Light gold in color, clear and bright. The nose has some noticeable oak along with a "ton" of tropical fruit and pineapple. Medium to full bodied. Slightly oily texture. On the palate, notes of guava, pineapple, papaya and spice. Long finish. This is delicious and has some depth and complexity. It is wonderful on its own and will work with many foods. It would be a nice match with Mandarin Orange Chicken. Drink over the next three to five years.

2002 Bollinger Champagne R.D. Extra Brut, France, Wine Review
This is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. R.D. means recently disgorged (October 2013). Deep golden in color, clear and bright with a nice mousse of tiny bubbles. The nose is big with toast, orange citrus and slight nutty notes. Good acidity. On the palate, this is deep and complex with flavors of toast/char, peach, and slight citrus. Very long finish. This is drinking young, even at age 23. It should easily go another 15 years. Great on its own, it will go with just about any food. A bowl of Popcorn would be perfect.
