2022 Domaine de Chantemerle Chablis, France, Burgundy, Wine Review

This is a producer that I am not familiar with, but this was quite enjoyable. Like other wines from this producer, it sees no oak and is made exclusively in stainless steel. Yellow/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with lemons, slight lime and crushed shells. Also a touch of sulfur. Medium bodied. On the palate, this has crisp acidity. Flavors of lemons and lemon candy. Long finish. This is great on its own and would work nicely with seafood or soft cheeses. Drink over the next ten years. Great value.

Chablis is the name of a village that has given its name to a region producing some of the best white wines in the world. Light golden in color. The nose has some flint along with a lemon/lime note. On the palate, this is crisp although slightly sweet. Some lemon candy. Also a bit of salinity on the finish. Short finish. This is a solid Chablis which probably should be consumed in the next three to five years.

As prices for white Burgundy in general and Chablis in particular continue to rise, it is nice to find still affordable producers making great wine. This is one such producer. the wine is made in a concrete egg and sees no oak. Light golden in color with some green hues, clear and bright. The nose is nice with crushed shells, slight chalk/minerality and lemon. Medium bodied. Lean and racy texture. Good acidity. On the palate, lemons and crushed shells. Long finish. At a recent blind tasting of Chablis, this ended up being the highest ranked wine. It should be noted that it got no first place votes, but lots of second place and no last place. Yellow/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose has gunpowder, peach and some minerality. Plush texture. good acidity. On the palate, green apples with a touch of crushed shells. Nice finish. This is drinking well now and should for the next seven to ten years. A nice choice with seafood or on its own.

From one of the top producers of Chablis. Impressive showing. Light gold in color, clear and bright. The nose has crushed shells, green apples, lemons and a slight waxy note. Great texture. Crisp acidity. On the palate, this is delicious. Crisp granny smith apples with crushed shells and slight lemon notes. Deep and complex. Long finish. This drinks well on its own and is very food friendly. Obviously shell fish but this went quite well with sweet potato sushi and even asparagus sushi. Drink over the next ten to fifteen years.
