The name means "slope of Roses" and the vineyard is on sandy soil. This is a more elegantly styled wine yet has plenty of structure which should allow for excellent development as it mature. Ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose has cherries, sour cherries, sandalwood, mint and rose hips. Firm tannins. Full bodied. Nice acidity. On the palate, there is a lot going on. Flavors of cherries, cherry pie, spice and slight mint. Deep and complex if still tight. Long finish. This needs time but if opening sooner, give it plenty of air (a day is not too much). Hold for five to eight years and drink for ten to fifteen after that. It is better with food. Mushroom Risotto would be great. Like most of the wines in this lineup, this is a great value for Barolo.
