The best of the wines tasted during a recent tour of the winery. Slightly lighter ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose is great. Earthy, with cherries and chalky minerality. Also a bit of dried roses and slight herbal note (sage?). Full bodied. Very firm tannins. Lovely texture. On the palate, black cherries, blood oranges, with underlying earthiness. Great acidity. Complex and deep and just doesn't seem to fully open. Long finish. This is going to take some patience but is a special wine that will reward cellaring. Hold for another ten and then drink for twenty after that. It will be better with food and if waiting until this opens up, it would bee great with a plate of pasta with truffles in a cream sauce.
