Great showing for this admittedly very young Napa Cabernet. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the outstanding JJ Cohn Vineyard in Rutherford. Inky purple in color, opaque and shimmering bright. The nose is initially tight despite about five hours of decanting but it opens in the glass to show Cassis, graphite, slight coffee, blueberries, tobacco and char. Full bodied. Firm tannins. Lively energy and great balance. On the palate, this is open and drinking well. Flavors of cassis, char, blueberries, slight chocolate and slight graphite. Long finish. Delicious! It is young and will no doubt gain in complexity and deserve a 100 point score with further cellaring. It should drink well for another twenty to thirty years. It is great on its own and will work well with bigger foods. A steak for sure but also a Roasted Acorn Squash would be great.
