This was surprisingly accessible despite being so young. The wines of Barolo have certainly changed and adapted to consumer demands. It was also quite good. Deep ruby in color, partially opaque and bright. The nose is great with cherries, slight pomegranate, a bit of rose petals, and a dusty, dry earthiness. Medium to full bodied. Firm tannins. Great acidity. On the palate, this is deep and has serious complexity. Flavors of cherries with underlying earthiness and just a hint of anise. Long finish. This is drinking well now but should improve with age (and the score may rise a point or two more). It is nice on its own but better with food. Wild Mushroom Polenta would be perfect. Ideally, hold for three to five years and drink for ten to fifteen years after that.
