Antica is the Antinori property in Napa. It is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Ruby in color with purple swirls, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, black cherries, spice and char. Full bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, this was tight at first, but kept opening all night. Cassis, black cherries and slight tobacco notes. Some depth and complexity. In a blind tasting with a bunch of other Antinori wines, I found it lacking in acidity, but the group on the whole found it to be there favorite. It is a California wine. Drink over the next twelve to fifteen years. Nice on its own, it will work well with a steak.
