2021 Gérard Bertrand Château l'Hospitalet Grand Vin La Clape Coteaux du Languedoc, France, Wine Review
2023 Domaine de Chateaumar Cuvee Amandine, France, VdP, Wine Review
I really enjoy their Cuvee Vincent Cotes du Rhone red wine but this was not at that level. Still, for an inexpensive white, it would be a nice wine for a party. It is 95% viognier with 5% Grenache Blanc. Light golden in color with a touch of green. The nose is flat with little or no floral notes which is what I hoped for. Maybe a touch of baked peach. Medium bodied. Moderate acidity. On the palate, a touch of minerality. Moderate finish. Drink now.
NV Marevia Nit del Foc Brut, Spain, Wine Review
Made from Organic grapes grown near Valencia. Light silvery/gold in color with a nice mousse of medium bubbles. The nose has some seltzer with a touch or peach. Medium bodied. Moderate acidity. On the palate, this is ever so slightly sweet. It is refreshing to drink with a slight peach and mineral note. Good finish. A nice wine to finish the day but will work well with lighter food. Drink now. Good value.
2000 Wild Horse Pinot Noir, USA, California, Central Coast, Wine Review
From a recent cellar purchase a friend made, this was very drinkable and much better than I would have thought. Cherry red in color, mostly clear and bright. The nose has cherries, slight sandalwood and slight baking spice. Medium bodied. Good balance. On the palate, there is still nice cherry fruit. Not super complex but some depth. It drinks nicely on its own but would be better with food. It would be nice with baked salmon with a cream sauce. Drink up.
