Landmark Vineyards began in 1974 and quickly developed a signature style - whole-cluster-pressed grapes, fermentation using native yeast, and aging in French oak - all of which is now commonplace. Landmark has also routinely sourced grapes, in this case Pinot Noir, from different AVAs to show the specific regionality of Pinot. Using the Dierberg Vineyards in Santa Barbara County, this Pinot Noir offers less bright strawberry fruit and moves instead into more subtle red raspberry, pomegranate, black cherry, strawberry compote, green tea leaf and huckleberry. There’s a moderate acidity throughout the mid palate and finish and soft tannic structure. Aged in barrel for a scant 10 months with only three quarters of those barrels being new French oak allows the fruit to show its delicate nature from its cool-growing region. This is an ideal food companion wine because it is structured to work with, and compliment, other foods. ORIGIN: Santa Rita Hills, Santa Barbara County. ALCOHOL: 14.3%
