This is one of those lush and exquisitely enjoyable Pinots to drink. Not only is it velvety and smooth, but also the fruit is so seamlessly aligned with all the elements of oak, tannic structure, and acidity. This offers Rainier cherry, black cherry, light pomegranate, raspberry and apricot, along with wildflowers, and subtle hints of clove, white pepper and cinnamon. This shows more fruit compote notes, but without the inherent sweetness that accompanies it. It is also a little darker and richer than most Pinot Noir on the market shying away from the bright strawberry notes. The acidity is spot on and allows the mid palate to break open with the wine, allowing a depth of character to be revealed. This is a thoroughly satisfying drinking experience, and for those who think a California Pinot with this kind of age would not be drinking well, it is exactly the opposite. Comprised of Pinot Noir clone 777 this encompasses an amazing variety of diverse flavors and showcases stellar winemaking. 202 cases. ORIGIN: Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara County. ALCOHOL: 14.4%
