Inky purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is tight but opens to show cassis, slight dust, coffee, chocolate and minerality.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  Medium acidity.  On the palate, flavors of cassis, dark chocolate, spice, coffee and char.  Long finish.  The vineyard is still on the young side and future releases should ratchet up in terms of concentration and quality.  As for this vintage, it should improve a point or two with good cellaring.  It is very nice on its own and should work well with many foods (not seafood).  It should work well with savory meat and mushroom dishes like Beef Stroganoff.  Cellar for three years and drink for fifteen to twenty after that.
