2021 Rivers-Marie Cabernet Sauvignon, USA, California, Napa, Wine Review

This is their base (non single vineyard Cabernet) and it is excellent.  Purple in color, opaque and shimmering bright.  The nose is deep and  concentrated with cassis, slight blueberry, dark chocolate, baking spice and slight char.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  Great energy and balance.  On the palate, this is tight and needs some air to open.  After a couple hours, this is deep, concentrated and delicious.  Flavors of cassis, dark chocolate, slight earthiness and char.  Long finish.  This will get better with cellaring but with some air, delicious now.  Drink over the next ten to twelve years.  Great on its own, it will need rich food now such as a steak or burger off grill.
