This is a 60/40 Syrah and Grenache blend from California. Slide Hill is owned by Jim Binns of Andremily Winery which makes some of the best Syrahs anywhere. Russel From, the owner and winemaker at Herman Story has been friend with Jim for a long time and made a fantastic wine with this fruit. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is deep with black raspberries, black cherries, black pepper, leather, and a nice mineral note. Full bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, this is complex and deep. Also, delicious. Flavors of black raspberries, black cherries, black pepper and char. Still very young but approachable with some air. Great on its own, this will go well with big flavors. Roasted Butternut Squash would be a nice pairing as would a Burger off the grill. Drink over the next ten to fifteen years.
