2021 Carlisle Zinfandel Pagani Ranch Sonoma Valley, USA, California, Wine Review

This is a blend of 85% Zinfandel and 15% Alicante Bouschet. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is nice with black raspberries, slight plums, black pepper and a bit of char. Full bodied. Medium tannins. Great balance and energy. On the palate, this is tasty. Flavors of black raspberries, some raspberries and a bit of bramble. Long finish. This is drinking well now on its own and will work with spicy foods. BBQ Ribs would be a nice match. Drink over the next five to ten years.

Always a consistently top Zinfandel. Purple in color with a thin ruby rim. The nose is nice with black cherries, raspberries, slight bramble, and char. Full bodied. The fruit seems a bit darker on the palate. Black raspberries with some plums. Delicious. Tight but unwinds in the glass. Long finish. This seems like it still needs a bit more time, even for those who like their Zins big and fruit forward. Maybe another three to five years and it should drink well for seven to ten after that. Another winner from Carlisle. I am sure these will age nicely, but I just can't keep my hands off of them young. Ruby/purple in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is great with black cherries, spice, blueberries, and cedar. Full bodied. Lovely, almost lush texture. Good acidity. Light tannins. On the palate, black cherries, black raspberries, with slight char underneath. Long finish. Just delicious. This is great on its own and will drink well for another ten years.
