Tasted at the winery. This is their base Barolo from various plots in Monforte D'Alba; Pajana, Ciabot Mentin and Percristina. Pale ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose has cherries, tar, dried flowers, orange pith and spice. Medium tannins. Medium to full bodied. Great balance. Moderate acidity. On the palate, cherries and black cherries, dust and char. Shows depth and tight complexity. Long finish. If drinking soon, give it a few hours of air. Ideally hold for five years and drink for ten to fifteen after that. It is nice on its own but really needs food to strut its stuff. Osso Buco or other braised dishes would work well.
