2020 Coen Malbec Classic Rosé, Argentina, Uco Valley, Wine Review

This is a Rosé made from 100% organically grown Malbec grapes. Deep salmon pink in color, clear and bright. The nose is steely with Watermelons and cherries. On the palate, this is light bodied and refreshing. Clean. Dry. Moderate acidity. On the palate this is cherry essence and light raspberries. Some watermelon and blood oranges on the finish. This drinks easy and will work with almost any food. drink over the next two to three years.

This is a very nice entry level (maybe a step up) Malbec from Argentina. Purple with ruby swirls, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has black raspberries, plums, char and baking spices. Medium bodied. On the palate, black cherries and plum with underlying char. Medium tannins. Good acidity. Nice concentration and some complexity. This should improve a bit with a year or two of cellaring, but it is drinking well now. Drink over the next three to five years. A nice wine with a burger off the grill or maybe ribs.

This is an organically grown, relatively inexpensive Malbec from Argentina. Purple/ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cherries and baking spices. With air, some black cherries. On the palate, nice black cherry fruit, some plums and a bit of char. Medium tannins. Good acidity. This is a dry wine with just a perception of ripeness/sweetness. Good finish. This will be a popular wine to serve at cookouts with burgers off the grill. Drink over the next three to five years.

One of the better Malbec's I have tasted. It is named for one of the owners of Domaine Bousquet. This is 100% Malbec from the Domaine Bousquet home (certified Organic) vineyard grown at 4,125 feet. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is powerful with plums, black raspberries, slight coffee, and spice. Full bodied. Medium tannins. Good acidity. On the palate, this has a velvety texture. This was my favorite of the Virgen lineup of wines recently tasted and seemed a step up from the 2020 Organic Malbec. Purple in color with ruby swirls, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has sweet black cherries, some plums, some currants and a slight earthy note. Nice lush mouthfeel. Firm tannins. Great balance and energy. On the palate, black cherries and plums with some depth. Long finish. Tremendous value. It drinks great on its own and will work well with meats and fowl off the grill (and, veggies too). Drink over the next three to five years.
