This wine is consistently an excellent value in Malbec. Purple in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has plums, attic dust, and spice. Full bodied. Good acidity. Medium tannins. On the palate, plums with some spice. This is deep. Long finish. Very nice on its own, this would be a great choice with a mid-week pizza. Drink over the next five years.
One of the better Malbec's I have tasted. It is named for one of the owners of Domaine Bousquet. This is 100% Malbec from the Domaine Bousquet home (certified Organic) vineyard grown at 4,125 feet. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is powerful with plums, black raspberries, slight coffee, and spice. Full bodied. Medium tannins. Good acidity. On the palate, this has a velvety texture. This is an organically grown, relatively inexpensive Malbec from Argentina. Purple/ruby in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cherries and baking spices. With air, some black cherries. On the palate, nice black cherry fruit, some plums and a bit of char. Medium tannins. Good acidity. This is a dry wine with just a perception of ripeness/sweetness. Good finish. This will be a popular wine to serve at cookouts with burgers off the grill. Drink over the next three to five years.
I am not a huge Malbec fan in general but if I were, this is not a style of Malbec I would choose. So, take this review with a grain of salt. Purple in color, ruby at the rim. The nose has cherries, slight plums and green bell pepper. On the palate, there is an overt acidity to this wine that seems misplaced. It has a nice full bodied texture. Tart cherry fruit with a green bell pepper back bone. Clipped finish. I tried this at a local wine shop and some of the other patrons seemed to enjoy this more than I. It isn't going to get any better so drink now.
This was my favorite of the Virgen lineup of wines recently tasted and seemed a step up from the 2020 Organic Malbec. Purple in color with ruby swirls, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has sweet black cherries, some plums, some currants and a slight earthy note. Nice lush mouthfeel. Firm tannins. Great balance and energy. On the palate, black cherries and plums with some depth. Long finish. Tremendous value. It drinks great on its own and will work well with meats and fowl off the grill (and, veggies too). Drink over the next three to five years.
