This is 84% Merlot and 16% Cabernet Franc from Bordeaux.  This seemed tight upon opening and is likely a bit shut down at the moment but opened nicely in the glass.  Purple in color, opaque and shimmering bright.  The nose is reticent at first but with some swirling shows cherries, black cherries, dark chocolate, fresh tobacco and char.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  On the palate flavors of cherries, black cherries, dark chocolate, slight earthiness and spice.  Good finish.  This needs another five to ten years in a cellar and should drink for twenty to thirty after that.  For now, some food should help open the wine a bit.  Slow braised Pork Shoulder would be a good choice.  No doubt that this will flirt with a 100 point score once mature.
