One of my favorite chardonnays. Golden in color. There is some oak on the wine but it is well done and mostly integrated on release. After a couple of years in the cellar, it drinks amazingly. The oak presents itself as a vanilla note which works well with the lemon cream and slight citrus of the Chardonnay. Almost seamless texture. Long finish. Delicious on its own and a great match with swordfish or salmon.
Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is great with vanilla, lemon cream, slight wax note. Full bodied. Great acidity. Deep and complex albeit obviously young. On the palate, the lemon cream takes the stage with some background vanilla. Long finish. This it rich without being overblown. One of, if not the best RM Chard I have had. This should drink well for another 15 years. Great on its own, this will work well with lobster or salmon.
A couple of steps up from the basic Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. Light golden in color with some silvery hues, clear and bright. The nose is great with lemon curd, slight pear, vanilla and spice. Medium to full bodied. Crisp acidity. On the palate, this is concentrated but has some elegance. Lemons, slight vanilla, a bit of toast and spice. Complex. Long finish. For my tastes, one of the top Chardonnays out there. It should easily drink well for ten to fifteen more years. Great on its own, but better with food. This would be excellent with grilled Salmon.
Consistently one of the best Chardonnay's coming from Napa. It is a hypothetical cross in style between a fatter Burgundy and a racier California Chardonnay. It is a bit tropical and definitely shows some oak, but used deftly. Always a hit when a bottle is opened. Pale golden in color. The nose has vanilla, lemons and minerals. Complex. On the palate, this is round but with enough acidity to make it work. Vanilla and lemon cream. Long finish. This keeps unwinding in the glass. Probably my favorite in the excellent lineup of Rivers Marie Chardonnays and this vintage is no exception. Light golden/silver/green in color, clear and bright. The nose is deep and strong with green apples, lemon peel, minerality with slight chalk, slight spice and vanilla. Full bodied. Crisp but rounded edges. Great racy texture. On the palate, this is delicious. Flavors of green apples, lemon juice and minerals. Long finish. This is drinking beautifully, if young on its own but will work well with the right food.
