Sometimes its good to have an inexpensive red wine on hand. This is ok. Certainly not for everyone though. It is a blend of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. Purple in color. The nose is nice. A bit meaty with black raspberries and some baking spices. On the palate, this is slightly sweet. Made for immediate drinking. Black raspberry fruit. Probably better on its own than with food. For $15, it is fine.
This is a blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Charbono. It is made to be a fruit forward delicious blend that drinks well right away. And it achieves that. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, black pepper, slight black raspberries and roasted meats and herbs. Very nice. On the palate, this is big. Tasty with a wall of fruit. Medium tannins. Long finish. There is some complexity and depth to it. It drinks great now on its own and will work with spicy barbecue. What a great showing for this wine. This might be the best vintage of it to date. It is 85% Zinfandel and 15% Petite Sirah and Syrah. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has plums, black cherries, cedar and bramble. The wine sees 25% new oak. It has a soft and accessible texture. Delicious. It is a jammy styled Zinfandel with black cherry fruit and underlying minerality. There is a bit of warmth (almost a burn) that is actually very nice on the finish. Another consistent vintage for this wine. It is one of those wines that wine snobs love to bash but wine drinkers enjoy very much. It is big and fresh and exuberant and delicious. Inky purple in color, magenta at the rim. Opaque and bright. The nose has black raspberries, black cherries, baking spices and slight bramble notes. Full bodied with a juicy texture. Medium tannins. On the palate, the black raspberries come thru along with some char and anise on the finish. Long finish that does have some warmth to it. Wow. It has been a while since I have tried any of the single vineyard wines from Ravenswood. This is great! Really glad to revisit these. Made in Dry Creek Valley on gravelly clay loam soils. 15.1% Alc but no hint of it. Ruby/purple in color. Clear and bright. The nose is earthy and dusty with black cherries and a bit of pepper. With air, an underlying char shows thru. On the palate, this is soft and smooth. It starts easy which is nice before picking up weight. Sour black cherries and some blueberries. The mid-palate has some black licorice too. Plenty of depth here. Medium
This is a blend of grapes from Napa (Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Malbec and Petite Sirah) combined with Syrah from Sonoma. It is a pretty big and jammy style of red wine. The nose has black raspberries, black cherries, graphite, baking spices and a bit of chocolate. Rich texture. A nice varietal complexity. Light tannins. This is ready to drink now. Lots of purple and dark red fruits. Tasty. Probably better served as a glass on the deck but it will work with bolder foods. Probably best if drunk in the next year or two as the exuberance and energy are what this wine is all about
