Another consistent vintage for this wine. It is one of those wines that wine snobs love to bash but wine drinkers enjoy very much. It is big and fresh and exuberant and delicious. Inky purple in color, magenta at the rim. Opaque and bright. The nose has black raspberries, black cherries, baking spices and slight bramble notes. Full bodied with a juicy texture. Medium tannins. On the palate, the black raspberries come thru along with some char and anise on the finish. Long finish that does have some warmth to it. This drinks great on its own and will work well with big foods. It should continue to drink well for another ten years. This promises to be one of the first bottle emptied at a tasting or party.

This is a blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Charbono. It is made to be a fruit forward delicious blend that drinks well right away. And it achieves that. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, black pepper, slight black raspberries and roasted meats and herbs. Very nice. On the palate, this is big. Tasty with a wall of fruit. What a great showing for this wine. This might be the best vintage of it to date. It is 85% Zinfandel and 15% Petite Sirah and Syrah. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has plums, black cherries, cedar and bramble. The wine sees 25% new oak. It has a soft and accessible texture. Delicious. It is a jammy styled Zinfandel with black cherry fruit and underlying minerality. There is a bit of warmth (almost a burn) that is actually very nice on the finish. This remains my favorite Carlisle Zinfandel year in and year out. There are lots of reasons, but chief among them is the texture. So rich and lush yet the wine has so much balance and energy. A blend of 96% Zinfandel and 4% Carignan. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is great with raspberries, black raspberries, slight blueberries, smoke and slight bramble. Medium to full bodied. On the palate, black raspberries, raspberries and slight black cherries with smoke and some dry earthiness. Great acidity. Long finish. Delicious. Sometimes its good to have an inexpensive red wine on hand. This is ok. Certainly not for everyone though. It is a blend of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. Purple in color. The nose is nice. A bit meaty with black raspberries and some baking spices. On the palate, this is slightly sweet. Made for immediate drinking. Black raspberry fruit. Probably better on its own than with food. For $15, it is fine.

This is a wine made by Rhone wine consultant Philippe Cambie and Saxum’s Justin Smith. It is a blend of 76% Zinfandel, 8% Syrah, 6% Mataró, 6% Petite Sirah, and 4% Tempranillo. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has black raspberries, slight bramble, dust, black cherries and spice. On the palate, this is full bodied. Delicious. Serious tannins.
