2007 Martinelli Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard, USA, California, Sonoma, Russian River Valley, Wine Review

16.4% abv.  This is not a wine for everyone.  I enjoyed it but there is a lot of alcohol here.  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is big with black cherries, black raspberries, bramble, black pepper and spice.  And, alcohol.  Light tannins.  Full bodied.  On the palate, the alcohol is less obtrusive with plenty of raspberries, black raspberries, char and slight forest floor.  Long finish.  This is probably best without food or maybe with a bit of chocolate.  Tasted with a Pasta dish and it was a bit awkward.  Sipped on its own after dinner it was much more appropriate.  Of course, your mileage may vary.  Drink sooner than later.
