Dutcher Crossing makes over 30 wines from Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino and fortunately, also makes a California Port. Made from all zinfandel with nearly four years of barrel aging, this gives Portugal a run for its money. You at once notice the fruity zinfandel notes however this is not sweet nor jammy, but rather more fruit compote driven with notes of fig, almond extract, pomegranate, plum and cassis. As balanced as it is, this is a perfect wine to end the evening, or simply sip by the fire.
