This flagship wine is what you would expect from the Rodney Strong team; a posh easy to drink, smooth, very enjoyable Cabernet. It offers subtle dark and red fruit like blackberry, blueberry and boysenberry, with lighter notes of gentle raspberry, plum, cinnamon, light oak, and sandalwood. It offers some heft, but it is not so big that it cannot be consumed on its own. Yes, it calls out for food and a nice hardy New York strip would do well. But the tannins are fairly mild as is the acidity so what you get is a pleasurable drinking experience rather than a wine you have to work with in order to find the appropriate companion for your meal. This 100% Cabernet was aged for two years in mainly new French oak and is ready to drink now, or will hold nicely for the next five years. ORIGIN: Alexander and Knight’s valleys, Sonoma.
