2023 Patricia Green Cellars Sauvignon Blanc, USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Wine Review

I don't recall very many, if any, Sauvignon Blancs grown in Oregon, so this was interesting. Light silvery/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose has Tutti Fruity Gum notes (others called it Bubble Gum) with a little bit of peach. Slightly oily texture. Medium bodied. Moderate acidity. On the palate, more Tutti Fruity Gum along with a touch of peach. A touch of salinity. Moderate finish. A fun wine to stretch what a Sauvignon Blanc has to offer. A nice starter white or to serve with a light lunch. Perhaps with Tuna Salad.

From Washington state, this comes in at 13.2%abv. Green/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with lemon/lime, minerality and a touch of grassiness. Medium bodied with a nice, slightly oily texture. Good acidity. On the palate, limes with a slight gooseberry note and underlying minerality. Long finish. Overall, a very nice Sauvignon Blanc for a very fair price. This is lovely on its own and will work nicely with lighter foods. A great choice with a fruit salad for lunch.

This is a "Bordeaux Blanc" styles wine from Washington state. It is 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Semillon. Very impressive and a dead ringer for a Bordeaux white in style and quality. Light golden in color. The nose has apples, wax, sweet herbs, minerality and a touch of cedar. Light to medium bodied. Nice texture. On the palate, apples, slight citrus, wax with underlying minerality. Fresh and lively. Good acidity. Long finish. Versatile. Made from purchased grapes from an undisclosed location. Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is slightly grassy with a touch of lime. Light bodied. Slightly oily texture. On the palate, more about minerality. Clean. Moderate finish. This drinks nicely on its own but better with food. It went well with a Melon Caprese Salad. Drink now.

This winery is located just east of Cleveland Ohio. They purchase grapes from around the world and craft wines. Most wines are sold locally or at their tasting room. These grapes are from Clear Lake in Lake County, California. Light silvery/gold in color. The nose is a bit grassy with a slight melon note. A nice slightly oily texture. On the palate, this is light. Some melon notes. It's a bit flat but overall an easy, clean wine with no faults. This should be a popular wine at the tasting room on a Friday summer night.

Back in the days before Prohibition, the wines from the Lake Erie Islands far outsold the wines from Sonoma. Peruse and older text and you will see that these islands produced some of the top wines this country produced.
