Pugnitello (it means little fist) is an ancient Tuscan grape.  It was named after the shape of the grape clusters.  Purple in color, mostly  opaque and bright.  The nose is interesting (and very good) with black cherries, cinnamon, tobacco and slight forest floor.  Medium to full bodied.  Good acidity.  Light to medium tannins.  On the palate, this has some depth and complexity.  similar but less flamboyant than Sangiovese.  Flavors of black cherries, some cherries and a hint of cinnamon.  Long finish.  While this is nice on its own, it is better with food.  Pasta with a Ragu sauce would be perfect.  No idea about ageing but it seems like this should have no problem going another ten to twenty years.
