This is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc from Chateau Angelus, the legendary producer in Saint Emilion, Bordeaux.  It is intended to be consistent with their great wines but accessible earlier and much more affordable and it succeeds at both.  The wine is deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright.  On the nose, this has a lot going on.  Notes on black cherries, cherries, chocolate, slight brown tobacco, and spice.  Blind, it certainly is of its place.  Medium to full bodied.  Medium tannins.  Nicely balanced.  On the palate, this is delicious.  Flavors of black cherries, cherries, chocolate and slight spice.  Nice finish.  This has nice structure and while it could probably improve with five years of cellaring, it is drinking well now and should continue to for seven to ten years.  It is nice on its own but probably a bit better with food.  It would go very well with Roasted Duck or Chicken.  This is a really excellent value in Bordeaux.
