Tasted at the winery.  Bottle #10134.  This is another reason it is great to visit a winery.  One can experience the terroir, learn much more about the winery, but also find out and taste wines that one never knew about.  Lugano is a DOC and the grape is a clone of Trebbiano named Trebbiano di Lugana.  It is just a few kilometers south of Lake Garda.  The region spans parts of Lombardia and Veneto.  This is a white wine that is light golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose is interesting with honey, yeast, peach and slight nuttiness.  Medium bodied.  Great acidity.  velvety texture.  On the palate minerality, dried lemons, lemon zest, and slight almond notes.  Tightly layered and complex.  Very long finish.  There is a lot going on here and it seems as though a few years of cellaring will give it a chance to come together.  It does need food to really work as a whole.  This would be great with grilled snapper or trout.  For a more casual dinner, a bianco or pesto pizza would work.  Drink over the next seven to ten years.  I bought a bottle when visiting the winery.
