The Luigi Baudana estate was purchased by the Vajra family in 2008 but is run as a separate entity. This wine is from Serralunga although that is not indicated on the label. Pale Ruby/purple in color, clear and bright. The nose has bright cherries, some raspberries, a touch of cherry candy, and a hint of cinnamon. Medium to full bodied. Medium tannins that start out slightly astringent but soften quickly with air. Nice acidity. On the palate, this has depth and complexity that will emerge with time. Flavors of cherries, raspberries and baking spice. Long finish. This needs time to develop so best to cellar for five to seven years and then drink over the next fifteen. It will be better with food, grilled veal chops would be a great choice.
