This is a blend of 50% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 20% Corvinone, 10% other authorized varieties from northeast Italy.  It weighs in at 16% abv.  The wine is made utilizing the traditional Appassimento method in which grapes are hand-harvested and left to dry on racks into the winter before pressing.  It is ruby in color, mostly clear and bright.  The nose is very nice with cherries, dried cherries, slight cranberries, a hint of dark chocolate and a bit of wild herbs.  Full bodied.  Medium tannins.  Great balance.  On the palate, this is tasty and proper.  Some Amarones are hard to distinguish from a Valpolicella but this tastes like Amarone.  Flavors of dried and fresh cherries, a hint of anise, and a touch of dark chocolate especially on the finish.  It has a nice  complexity which should grow with age.  Ready to drink now, this should easily go another ten years.  Like most Italian wines, this is nice on its own, but better with food.  This will work well with big, meaty dishes of with a bit of Biscotti after a meal.
