The wines of Groffier have long been a personal favorite.  For some the boldness and oak treatment are not their favorite style so take this review accordingly.  Deep garnet in color, slightly opaque and bright.  The nose has black cherries, cherries, slight baking spice and just a hint of plums.  Maybe a slight char as well.  Medium to full bodied.  On the palate, this is delicious.  It is young, with slight tannins and loads of fruit.  Voluptuous texture.   Flavors of black cherries, cherries, and plums with a bit of spice and char.  Long finish.  Ideally, this could use another ten  years of cellaring but either way it should drink well for another twenty to thirty years.  Great on its own, it will become more food friendly as it ages.  It would be great with a Mushroom Risotto with plkenty of cheese.
