2021 Colgin IX Estate, USA, California, Napa, St. Helena, Wine Review

This is a proprietary blend from  Napa.  Decanted for about an hour prior to serving.  Purple in color with slight ruby hues, opaque and bright.  The nose is  tight but opens to show black cherries, slight cassis, slight roasted coffee, some floral notes and minerality.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  Great balance.  On the palate,  this is much  more open.  Flavors of black cherries, char, iron and some cassis.  Complex and deep.  It unwinds in the glass but will  no doubt improve with cellaring.  Long finish.  Hold for another five years and drink for twenty to thirty after that,  Given some bottle age, this is a 100 point wine.  It went very well with an "Eggplant "Caprese".  It would also be a natural with a steak.
