Tasted at the winery. This is a blend of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Bl-anc. Dosage was 1 grams per liter. Saten is a word used in Franciacorta for sparkling wines made from white grapes. The bottle pressure is lower than typical which results in a silky ("Saten") texture. The wine is fermented for five to six months in oak and then spends four years on its lees. Golden in color, clear and bright with tiny bubbles. The nose is a bit tight but opens with air. Notes of Lemon verbena, slight oak, almonds, and slight yeast. Creamy, smooth texture. Medium to full bodied. Well balanced. On the palate, notes of peach, slight citrus (Meyer Lemons?) and slight vanilla. It was suggest white chocolate and that seemed correct. Plenty of depth and complexity. Good finish. This is nice on its own but a bit of food offers more possibilities. It would be interesting with baked Trout or other fresh water fish. Drink over the next five to eight years.
